NSS

Motto: The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service, a chief principle which is practiced by the management, staff and students of the college.
With the objective of developing the personality of students, through community service, we started N.S.S in the year 1987 , with 100 volunteers . Today we have 4 units with 400 volunteers and our college is one of the best college in the university offering service and orientation to the local public. In N.S.S we have very many achievements not only university, State and District level but also National and International level too.

Objectives:

• Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving

Activities:
1. Adoption, survey and evaluation of slums. Assisting and working with local authorities in relief and rescue operation.

2. Swacch Bharat Mission

3. Programmes including discussions on eradications of social evils like communalism, castism, regionalism, untouchability, drug abuse etc.

4. Conducting and participating in cultural, literary and recreational programs such as singing, dancing, elocution and debate at different levels.

5. Awareness about girl child education, adult education, voter and consumer rights.

6.Work with the organizations of child welfare and women welfare.

Achievements:

The college takes pride of its various achievements as it stands as one of the outstanding unit in extending various outreach programme.
Our volunteers participated in Republic day parade at New Delhi, National integration camps, Youth exchange programmes, youth convention, Youth Festivals and international youth exchange programmes.
2018

– Program Officer and 4 NSS volunteers participated in NSS National Conference on “Youth In Contemporary Society, Attitude of Exclusion and Attempts For Inclusion” conducted by Andhra University.

2017

Program Officer Miss Anusuya Devi participated in National Training of Trainers (TOT) on Life Skills at Bhubneswar, Orissa conducted by Rajiv Gandhi National Institue of Youth Development (RGNIYD)

Ann’s College Program Officer Miss. EPS Bhagyalakshmi acted as team leader at NSS State Level conducted at VikramSimhapuri, Nellore and achieved over all championship for the team.

2015

Ann’s College Program Officer and Volunteers participated in University Level Youth Festival at Kakinada and received overall championship.

Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi received Indra Gandhi National Award as Best Program Officer on 19th November, 2015 by the hands of President Of India Dr. Pranab Mukherjee. She was awarded with a Silver Medal, Certificate and individual cash prize of Rs.70, 000/- .At the same time St. Ann’s Degree College NSS Unit 1 was selected for Best National NSS Unit Award and Dr. Sr. PremaKumari (Principal) received prestigious memento and Rs.1 Lakh cash prize for college NSS Unit.

Program Officer Miss Anusuya Devi received NSS State level Best Program Officer Award by the hands of Sri Kamineni Srinivasa Rao (Minister Of Health Affairs of Andhra Pradesh Government ) at NTR Health University, Vijayawada.

Miss Swathi (student) participated in National Adventure Camp at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Miss M. Vijaya (B.A) participated in State Level NSS Mega Camp at Tirupathi.

2014

National Youth Exchange and Home Stay Program was conducted by Andhra University for North Eastern Girls and St. Ann’s Program Officer and volunteers participated and accommodated 10 north eastern Indian volunteers and 1 program officer in their respective homes for 2 days.

Ann’s Program Officer and volunteers participated in relieve and rescue operation at the time of Hudhud Cyclone. They distributed food, clothes and utensils in Bheemlipatnam, Parwada and many other villages.  Program Officer Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi and Miss Anusuya Devi received Best Service Award for Hudhud relieve activities.

Program Officer Miss Anusuya Devi and Senior NSS Volunteer M. Renuka received University NSS awards under Program Officer and Volunteers category respectively.

Ann’s College NSS Unit 3 was sanctioned by Andhra University NSS Cell.

3 NSS volunteers from St. Ann’s College (M. Renuka and Manjima Sarkar of 3rdCom and Santoshi of B.A) participated in National Integration Camp at Guwahati, Assam.

Kirti Lewis of final B. Com from St. Ann’s College participated in National Mega Camp from 19th – 30th January at Dibrugarh, Assam.

2013

Program Officer and volunteers participated in State Level NSS Youth Festival conducted by Andhra University as organsing committee members for 3 days.

NSS Program Officer of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi received State Award as Best Program Officer.

Swathi (B.A) participated in National Trekking Camp at Shimla in the month of February.

2012

Ann’s College Program Officer and volunteers participated in Mega Summer National Integration Camp conducted by Andhra University for 12 days and received certificates as organizers.

NSS Program Officer of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagayalakshemi is selected as District Program Coordinator for Red Ribbon Club from 2010-2012. She established 320 Red Ribbon Club and received District Award for this priceless achievement.

Miss Khusbu Pandey (B.Com) participated in National Adventure Camp at Nagaland, from April 11th – 19th .

Miss D. Radha Rani (B.Com) participated in National Adventure Camp at Sikkim from 4th – 13th of June.

2011

Program Officer of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi acted as contingent leader for Andhra University for National Integration Camp conducted by the university. He 10 NSS voluteers from St. Ann’s College participated in the camp.

Great moment of pride for the college as Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi (PO) is appointed as District Program Officer of Visakhapatnam for Andhra University.

Ann’s College Program Officer and volunteers acted as organizing committee members of National Youth Exchange.

Miss P. Swathi (BSc) got state level best NSS volunteer award on 24th September,2011 at Andhra University.

2010

Swathi received State Level Award for NSS in volunteer category in Visakhapatnam.

5 NSS volunteers participated in National Integration Camp at NYK (Nehru Yuva Kendra) , Visakhapatnam.

G. Dhanawar Lakshmi participated in 1St National Trekking Adventure Camp at Uttarkashi, Uttaranchal for 10 days.

Miss G. Dhanawar Lakshmi received NSS 1st State Award in volunteers category by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

Miss P. Divya Rani (B.A), participated in National Trekking Camp at Hot Koti, Himachal Pradesh from 22nd June – 2nd

Miss Gautami (BSc) participated in National Youth Covention at Kohima, Nagaland from 7-10 October, 2009.

Program Officers and 10 students participated inNational Integration Camp at Tanaku, Andhra Pradesh for 1 week and received numerous prizes.

10 NSS voluteers from St. Ann’s College participated in National Youth Exchange and Home Stay Program with North Eastern girls conducted by Andhra University for 10 days.

2007

Program Officer of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi received National Award as Best Facilitator by IARF (International Association For Religious Freedom).

Miss Arti Singh, Miss Sirisha Reddy and Miss Gayatri, students of St. Ann’s College, participated in Nava Bharat National Camp at Nizamuddin, New Delhi.

2006

Miss Anusuya Devi, program officer for NSS Unit 2 of St. Ann’s College conducted YUVA Quiz (Youth Unite For Victory On AIDS) in the college premises on behalf of Andhra Unviersity. NSS volunteers of St. Ann’s College stood at the 2nd place in the quiz.

Miss Supriya Chowdhary participated in National Youth Convention conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GDI, Hydrabad.

2005

Program Officers and 10 students participated inNational Integration Camp at Ludhiana, Punjab for 10 days.

District Level Mega Workshop and camp was conducted by NSS Unit of St. Ann’s College with 300 volunteers and 25 colleges atTunglam near BHPV, Gajuwaka for 10 days. In this camp nearly 1 Lakh public assets were created in the form of construction of link road and renovation of ponds.

From 2005-2014 HREP (Human Rights Education Project) was implemented in St. Ann’s College with the support of IARP (International Association For Religious Freedom). Under this project college gave training to 25 colleges in the district.

Program Officer of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi attended International Training on Human Rights at Ramakrishna Mission, Kolkata.

2004

NSS Program Officer of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi was appointed as District Coordinator for “College Talk AIDS “ Program for 3 years (2004-2006). She conducted AIDS awareness programs in 30 colleges and gave training to 500 lecturers and more than 1 Lakh students.

2003

NSS Program Officer of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagayalakshmi was selected as State Resource Person for “College Talk AIDS “ Program.

Due to their efficiency and dedication St. Ann’s College was sanctioned 2nd NSS Unit.

From 2003- till date St. Ann’s NSS Cell is working towards the betterment of the Industrial Colony (Ward 47th-48th) of G.V.M.C. Camps are conducted in regular intervals for a week to spread awareness and identify the drawbacks of the inhabitants.

2002

Miss EPS Bhagyalakshmi and 10 volunteers participated in National Integration Camp in NEHU (North East Hill University) at Shillong, Meghalaya for 10 days.

2001

NSS unit of St. Ann’s College conducted “College Aids Awareness Program” (CAP) in the college and received the Best College Award from the Vice Chancellor of Andhra University.

2000

NSS Program Officers of St. Ann’s College Miss EPS Bhagyalakshmi and Miss Anusuya Devi were appointed as Divisional Resource Person (DRP). They conducted Grama Sabha and worked at 11 mandals in Paderu division.

Miss Urvarshi, a senior NSS volunteer of St. Ann’s College participated in Republic Day Parade (New Delhi) and Republic Day Camp.

1999

Program Officer and 10 volunteers participated in National Integration Camp at Devi AhalayaUniversity , Indoor Madhya Pradesh for 10 days.

Program Officer os St. Ann’s College participated in National workshop on “Universities Talk AIDS” Program in Mysuru, Karnataka.

1998

Program Officer and Volunteers of St. Ann’s College were awarded by Janmabhumi District Awards. 1 volunteer participated in State Level Janmabhumi Competition and received certifcates.

1997

Ann’s College Program Officer Miss. EPS Bhagyalakshmi was awarded CYP Asian Youth Award, an International youth recognition award for excellence in youth by Common Wealth Secretariat and Srilanka Government.

1996

1Program Officer Miss EPS Bhagyalakshmi along with 10 volunteers from the college participated in National Integration Camp conducted in Utkal University, Bhubneswar for 10 days.

1995

The Program Officers and volunteers of the college attended “Universities Talk AIDS”(UTA) program conducted by NSS Regional Centre, Hydrabad.

1994

Ann’s College hoisted and conducted the prestigious event of Silver Jubilee Celebration of NSS for the entire Andhra University in the college campus.

2 of the volunteers from the college participated in National Integration camp in Rajam, Vijayanagaram.

1993

From 1993-2003 NSS Cell of St. Ann’s College adopted the slums of Gajuwaka and conducted 10 days camp. The students identified the local issues of the area through survey so that they highlight it to the higher authorities. It had resulted to enhancement in the lifestyle of the people residing in the adopted areas.
