Internal Complaints Committee

Safeguarding Your Rights and Wellbeing

St. Ann’s College for Women is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all students, staff, and faculty. We understand that instances of harassment, discrimination, and misconduct can occur, and we have established the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to address such concerns promptly and effectively.

The ICC’s Mandate:

  • Address complaints: The ICC provides a platform for individuals to raise complaints related to sexual harassment, discrimination based on gender, caste, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic, and any other form of misconduct within the college premises or during college-related activities.
  • Ensure fair investigation: The ICC conducts thorough and impartial investigations into all complaints, following established procedures and principles of natural justice.
  • Recommend appropriate action: Based on its findings, the ICC recommends appropriate action to the college administration, which may include disciplinary measures, counseling, or mediation.
  • Foster a safe environment: The ICC works toward creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to speak up against harassment and discrimination and are confident in receiving fair and timely redressal.

Composition of the ICC:

The ICC is a diverse body composed of members with expertise in gender sensitivity, law, and social work. The committee includes:

  • Chairperson: A senior faculty member with experience in grievance redressal.
  • Members: Representatives from faculty, staff, and students, ensuring a balanced perspective.
  • External Member: A representative from an NGO or women’s rights organization to provide external oversight.

Confidentiality and Support:

The ICC maintains strict confidentiality regarding all complaints and proceedings. Individuals seeking assistance can contact the ICC through various channels, including:

  • In-person: Meeting a committee member during designated office hours.
  • Online: Submitting a complaint through the college website’s secure portal.
  • Email: Sending an email to the ICC’s designated email address.

Promoting a Culture of Respect:

The ICC is an integral part of St. Ann’s College for Women’s commitment to fostering a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusivity. We encourage all members of the college community to be aware of their rights and responsibilities and to utilize the ICC mechanism if they experience any form of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct.

Additional Resources:

  • The college’s anti-sexual harassment policy and other relevant policies are available on the website for your reference.
  • The ICC is committed to providing support and guidance throughout the complaint process.

Together, we can create a safe and empowering learning environment for all.
